VIDEO: David Axelrod Says Clinton Campaign’s Socialism Attacks Against Sanders Won’t Work

Yesterday, America Rising pointed out that in the Clinton campaign’s panicked state, they have taken to criticizing Senator Bernie Sanders for being a socialist. This morning on CNN, former Obama chief strategist David Axelrod pointed out how poorly thought out that was. He said:

“There was a poll last week from the Des Moines Register in which 43% of Iowans voting in the Democratic caucuses identified themselves with the word socialists. This is a good base for Bernie. This is a very liberal electorate there.”

Writing about that same poll, the Washington Post pointed out the disparity between self-described socialists and self-described capitalists in the Iowa caucuses:

The 43 percent of likely Iowa Democratic caucus-goers who self-identify as socialist is actually more than the number who identify themselves as capitalist — 38 percent.

And that’s in addition to the majority of Democrats nationally who have a positive view of socialism according to a New York Times/CBS News poll.

This might just be some classic Clinton campaign strategery: insulting large percentages of Democratic primary voters.
