VIDEO: McGinty Raises Cash From D.C. Lobbyists Days After Decrying Money In Politics
In case Pennsylvania voters need more proof that Katie McGinty’s feigned outrage at money in politics during Friday’s debate was blatant hypocrisy, here it is: McGinty spent Monday morning fundraising at the office of an ultra-elite Washington, D.C. lobbying firm.
McGinty’s page on fundraising website ActBlue withheld any information about the event’s location and hosts until potential attendees forked over at least $500, but an America Rising tracker caught up with McGinty in the lobby of The Podesta Group’s offices. The Podesta Group, co-founded by Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, is one of the top lobbying firms in Washington, representing numerous corporate and special interests on Capitol Hill.
The breakfast event included at least one high-profile attendee: former Senator-turned-lobbyist lobbying firm “consultant” Kay Hagan of North Carolina, who was spotted chatting with McGinty in the lobby. Hagan’s move to join lobbying shop Akin Gump was met with sharp criticism from grassroots Democrats when it was announced in January.
The exchange between McGinty and Hagan was inaudible, but one could reasonably speculate they traded war stories from their trips through the revolving door.
