Senate Democrats vying for their party’s 2020 presidential nomination all voted against a disaster relief package that would help aid residents in the first caucus state of Iowa.

Roll Call: “Cory Booker of New Jersey, Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts voted no.”

Kamala Harris didn’t even bother to show up for the vote due to her campaign schedule that has her in Nevada today.

According to Iowa Senator Joni Ernst, the bill 2020 Democrats opposed “provides $13.45 billion in supplemental funding for states and territories ravaged by tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, wildfires, earthquakes, volcanoes, typhoons, and other such events in 2017 and 2018. Senate appropriators amended the disaster legislation to expand eligibility in certain accounts for states in the Midwest, like Iowa, and the South that have experienced catastrophic flooding and tornadoes in 2019.”

Iowa’s other senator, Chuck Grassley, released a statement asking, “Why would these senators want to come to campaign in Iowa when they don’t show sympathy for Iowans suffering from the floods with the vote that they cast last night?”

These White House hopefuls are clearly more interested in appealing to the far-left wing of their party then working to govern and provide support to voters in states that have impacted by natural disasters.
