Native American Activist: I Won’t Support A Warren Presidency While She Appropriates My Identity

As Massachusetts Democrat Elizabeth Warren gears up for a 2020 run, her Native American heritage continues to be questioned. Yesterday, Native American activist and registered Democrat, Rebecca Nagle, penned an op-ed for the Huffington Post. This is her second op-ed denouncing Warren for “her false claims of Cherokee and Delaware heritage.” Nagle’s piece pointed out:

“Her defenders may tell me she stopped publicly claiming to be Native American a long time ago. And while it is true she has edited her story to now describe her family as “part Native American” and herself as a woman “with Native heritage,” Warren has never stopped claiming her family is Cherokee and Delaware, despite having an enormous amount of evidence that says otherwise.”

The piece comes just weeks after the Boston Globe ran an article pointing out gaps in her story about her heritage. While being interviewed, Warren suddenly had a lapse in memory surrounding her family’s lineage and why she identified as a Native American.
