Biden Caves to Radicals, Backs Taxpayer-Funded Abortion
The Hyde Amendment is a common-sense compromise that Republicans and Democrats have supported for decades. By abandoning Hyde, the Biden-Harris administration is once again caving to the most radical elements within their party.

When Joe Biden and Kamala Harris unveiled their $6 trillion budget last week they excluded the Hyde Amendment, a provision included in every budget since 1980 which banned taxpayer funding for abortions. Biden himself supported Hyde until 2019, when he caved to the radical, pro-abortion elements in the Democrat Party.
Hyde enjoys broad support, with 58 percent of Americans opposing or strongly opposing taxpayer-funded abortion. Republicans immediately announced their intent to protect Hyde.
NPR: The Biden budget proposal is far from the last word on the matter; Republicans are expected to work to reinstate the Hyde language during budget negotiations. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy released a statement criticizing Biden’s budget, saying it “breaks with decades of settled precedent by calling for direct taxpayer-funded abortion.”
The pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List said that Hyde has played a critical role in reducing the number of abortions performed in the United States.
Fox News: On Thursday, the anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony List launched the website “Hyde Saves Lives” in anticipation for the upcoming budget battle. A study by the group’s research arm, the Charlotte Lozier Institute, estimates that Hyde has saved nearly 2.5 million babies since 1976.
Bottom Line: The Hyde Amendment is a common-sense compromise that Republicans and Democrats have supported for decades. By abandoning Hyde, the Biden-Harris administration is once again caving to the most radical elements within their party.
