Cuban Americans Grow Frustrated with Joe Biden’s Inaction: ‘Biden is Sitting at the White House Doing Nothing’

Large numbers of Cuban Americans have been gathering at rallies across Miami in support of Cuban protesters while expressing frustration over the Biden-Harris administration’s tepid response.

“Biden is sitting at the White House doing nothing,” one protester said. “I voted for you. You have the troops. You have the availability to do it, and you’re not doing anything about it. So what was the point of me voting for you and putting you in office?”

“We want our freedom. We want to free our people,” said another. “That’s why we’re here. That’s why all these people are here.”

In response to the outbreak of anti-government protests in Cuba earlier this week, the Biden-Harris administration issued a lukewarm statement, which was notably the first time Joe Biden had mentioned Cuba or the Cuban people since becoming president.

Yesterday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki deliberately refrained from using the word “communism” when answering a question about why Cubans are fleeing the country and said the president will not speak out against communism in Cuba “at this time.” Only after a day of backlash did Psaki say communism was a “failed ideology.”

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, whose family fled Cuba six decades ago, also doubled-down on turning away fleeing Cubans by saying “if you take to the sea, you will not come to the United States.”

Bottom line: The Biden-Harris administration is leaving Cuban Americans behind as they sit on the sidelines and watch while Cubans continue risking their lives for freedom.
