Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is known for his extreme statements. Yet his comments yesterday about health care are drawing comparisons to the utterly unhinged former Congressman Alan Grayson. Speaking with Congressional reporters yesterday, Sanders said “thousands of Americans will die” because of the new Republican health care plan:

“‘Throwing 24 million Americans off of health insurance, raising premiums for older low-income Americans, while giving $285 billion in tax breaks to the top 2% is a disgusting and immoral proposal,’ Sanders said. ‘Thousands of Americans will die if this legislation is passed and we have to do everything that we can to see that is defeated.'”

Sanders’ disgusting comments are reminiscent of then-Congressman Alan Grayson’s statement in 2009 that the Republican health care plan wanted people to “die quickly”:

Both comments have no place in a civilized discourse. Bernie Sanders needs to retract his comments and apologize immediately.
