Bernie Sanders’ Wife the Focus of FBI Probe Over Shady Real Estate Deal

The New York Times is out with a new piece highlighting the downfall of a small Vermont college under the leadership of Jane Sanders. Bernie Sanders‘ wife, Jane, wanted to save Burlington College by buying up waterfront property. However, Sanders’ questionable decisions led to an FBI probe “that examined whether Ms. Sanders had inflated donor commitments to secure a bank loan for the property, and whether her husband had pressured the bank to make the loan.”

Jane Sanders was fired from her job over her this scandal and received a $200,000 severance. Bernie Sanders has long defended his wife and denied any wrongdoing, but as he seeks Democratic nomination for president many questions remain about his role in the shady dealings.
