Democrat Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib Calls for Hunger Strikes to ‘Shut Down ICE’

Over the weekend, Rashida Tlaib encouraged the audience at a fundraiser in Detroit to start a hunger strike in order to shut down operations of ICE at the border. The Free Beacon reported that the House freshman Democrat told attendees “don’t wait for this Congress to act, shut them down.”

Tlaib added that her planned hunger strike is driven by her colleagues in House leadership acting too “strategic,” and that they “reject bold plans like hers to abolish ICE because they’re “not ready for that now.”

Tlaib continued criticism of her colleagues in House leadership by reiterating Ilhan Omar’s critique that party leadership uses the women of color in the freshman class to look diverse.
