Democrat Senator Doug Jones’ Radical Position on Abortion At Odds With Alabama Voters

Doug Jones’ radical position on abortion is far outside of the mainstream of Alabama voters. In 2018, 60% of Alabama voters approved a pro-life measure that makes it state policy to “recognize and support the sanctity of unborn life and the rights of unborn children, including the right to life.” Let’s examine his numerous comments and dismissals of the pro-life community in Alabama.

1) When asked if he believed abortion should be banned after five months, Jones laughed and responded, “What a stupid question.”

2) Jones voted against the “Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act” in 2018, which was a ban on late-term abortion.

3) As the Alabama state Senate was set to vote on pro-life legislation, Jones released a video characterizing pro-life supporters as “extreme” and “callous.” At the same time, Jones admitted to his longtime client and friend, State Rep. John Rogers, that his remarks regarding abortion were “right.” Rogers’ controversial remarks made headlines after defending abortion stating, “Some children are just unwanted. You either kill them now or you kill them later in the electric chair.”

4) In December 2018, Jones said that “he would not support a personhood amendment and is in favor of a woman’s freedom to choose.”

5) In January 2018, Jones voted against banning abortions after 20 weeks.
Doug Jones’ far-left, radical positions on abortion do not represent the values of his Alabama constituents.
