Democrat Texas Sheriff Says Joe Biden is Responsible for Ongoing Crisis at the Border

Having served as the elected sheriff of Val Verde County, Texas for the last 12 years, there are few people with more experience at the southern border than Sheriff Joe Frank Martinez.

“I don’t know whether to laugh or to cry when I hear Washington politicians arguing whether or not the number of migrants crossing our southern border has reached the point of ‘crisis,’” Sheriff Martinez said. “I know there’s a crisis. We are living it, every single day.”

In an op-ed with USA Today, Martinez detailed what he and his four deputies face daily with a record number of migrants surging to the border under Joe Biden’s watch.

“In all my 42 years here, I have never seen so many migrants risking their lives to cross the Rio Grande as in the past couple of months.

“Our sheriff’s office generally consists of just four patrol deputies per shift — for all 2 million acres and all 110 miles of border. It can become overwhelming pretty quick.” – USA Today

According to Martinez, this recent influx in migrants is a direct result of Joe Biden’s open border policies.

“This unprecedented tide of migration started just a few days before Jan. 20, when migrants, along with everybody else, realized that the United States was about to become lax with the immigration policy.” – USA Today

Martinez and his officers are now being forced to divert critical law enforcement resources to address Joe Biden’s border crisis. From pulling the remains of a pregnant Haitian woman out of the Rio Grande to having to use their already-depleted resources to assist the U.S. Border Patrol at least four or five times a day, Martinez says Washington needs to take action:

“If they could stay a few days and see the madness and mayhem going on right now, there’d be no more wasting time trying to decide whether the border situation is a ‘crisis’ or not.” – USA Today

Meanwhile, Joe Biden’s border crisis manager — Vice President Kamala Harris — has been MIA as border officials are drowning in work and border communities are living with the repercussions of hundreds of thousands of migrants flooding across the border every month.

Bottom line: The Biden-Harris administration’s open border policies are what’s driving this crisis. It’s past time they step up, recognize that it’s a crisis, and do something to fix it.
