Ethics Complaints Reveal Democrats’ Rampant Campaign Finance Hypocrisy

Two leading Democrat candidates for U.S. Senate are the subjects of new ethics complaints filed with the Federal Election Commission. The complaints expose potentially illegal coordination between Cal Cunningham and M.J. Hegar with liberal dark money organization VoteVets.

The Washington Free Beacon: “Campaign photos and videos released by Cunningham and Hegar were later used in VoteVets ads. The short turnaround suggests ‘coordination with an outside organization,’ which is illegal under campaign finance law, according to the complaints, which will be filed on Tuesday.”

Both Cunningham and Hegar have campaigned on closing campaign finance loopholes and oppose dark money in politics. Votevets, which is a liberal dark money organization that does not disclose its donors, has spent more than $7 million supporting the two Democratic Senate candidates.
