Gretchen Whitmer Doesn’t Follow Her Own Rules, But Expects Michiganders to Do So

Last week, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who is being considered for Vice President by Joe Biden, told people who don’t live in Northern Michigan to avoid running up there for the holiday weekend. And then the first thing her family does? Runs up to Northern Michigan for the holiday weekend.

To make Whitmer’s blatant hypocrisy even worse, her husband reportedly pulled the “don’t-you-know-who-I-am” card to get their boat put in before the weekend:

“This morning, I was out working when the office called me, there was a gentleman on hold who wanted his boat in the water before the weekend,” Dowker posted, The Detroit News reported. “Being Memorial weekend and the fact that we started working three weeks late means there is no chance this is going to happen.”

He continued, “Our office personnel had explained this to the man and he replied, ‘I am the husband to the governor, will this make a difference?'”

The hypocrisy and entitlement are astounding as Whitmer herself told Michiganders that “if you don’t live in these regions… think long and hard” before heading there for the long weekend.

It’s clear that Whitmer and her family believe that there’s one set of rules for them and another for the rest of us.

This is just the latest misstep that Whitmer has had in her coronavirus response, which has been panned by Democrats and Republicans. The Democrat was caught handing a taxpayer-funded contact-tracing contract to a Democrat campaign vendor, refuses to release data on nursing home deaths, and continues to prioritize her national ambitions over governing Michigan.
