House Democrats Use COVID Relief Bill to Bail Out Bureaucrats and Push Teachers Unions’ Agenda

Buried on page 305 of the U.S. House of Representatives’ version of the American Rescue Plan is a $21,000 perk for federal employees whose kids are partaking in virtual or partially-virtual schooling.

According to a report from Forbes, House Democrats’ addition to the COVID-19 relief bill would give federal workers up to $1,400 a week for 15 weeks to keep their children at home while schools are closed or on a hybrid learning schedule.

“$570 million in the new [Emergency Federal Employee Leave Fund] is available through September 30. Federal employees caring for others due to Covid-19 are eligible for paid leave. Among those eligible are those who are ‘unable to work’ because they are caring for school-aged children not physically in school full time ‘due to Covid-19 precautions[.]’” – Forbes

President Biden and Democrat leadership have come under scrutiny for cowering to the teachers unions and consistently moving the goalposts on reopening schools, despite numerous studies and health experts saying it is safe to get students back in the classroom.

It’s no secret that the House Democrats’ ‘COVID relief bill’ is just a vehicle for their liberal wish list, including using taxpayer dollars to bail out Washington bureaucrats and promote the teachers unions’ radical agenda.
