Joe Biden Hosts NGA Meeting With Andrew Cuomo While Democrat-Run States Continue to Leave Thousands of People Behind

President Joe Biden is set to give remarks at the National Governors Association’s (NGA) Virtual Winter Meeting on Thursday while many blue states are suffering at the hand of unavailing governors who are failing to tackle critical issues like COVID vaccine distribution and school reopenings.

Leading the meeting will be chairman of the NGA, Governor Andrew Cuomo, whose coronavirus policies resulted in the deaths of thousands of seniors living in nursing homes. Cuomo was previously lauded by President Biden as the “gold standard” for leadership during the pandemic, and he is now under federal investigation for attempting to conceal the number of deaths occurring under his watch.

Governor Cuomo is not the only governor under intense scrutiny for his failed COVID response. Many Democrat governors across the country are failing to ensure underserved communities receive the vaccine and refuse to allow students back in the classroom.

After having nearly an entire year to develop vaccine distribution plans, states like Colorado are falling flat when it comes to getting vaccines into the arms of their minority communities. Hispanics make up 22% of Colorado’s population and 28% of COVID cases, but they have only received 5% of the COVID vaccines. African Americans make up 4% of the population, but they have only received 2% of the vaccines. Needless to say, Colorado Democrats’ lack of planning has resulted in deprivation for some of their most vulnerable communities.

Similarly, a mistake from the Virginia Department of Health potentially deterred the Latino community from getting the coronavirus vaccine due to a translation error on their website. In Illinois, Democrats put politicians and prisoners ahead of those who needed the COVID vaccine the most. And in Michigan, unemployment rates have skyrocketed under Governor Whitmer’s draconian lockdown measures, hurting minority groups and women across the state.

Despite numerous studies and health experts confirming that it is safe to get teachers and students back in the classroom, President Biden and Democrat governors have cowered to the teachers unions rather than acting in the best interests of children.

Students are suffering from the repercussions of distance learning, and in places like Fairfax County, Virginia, kids are being forced to sit alone in classrooms without their teachers.

Overall, President Biden and Democrat governors’ failed coronavirus response and refusal to reopen schools have left thousands of Americans behind. This NGA meeting should be focused on getting our communities vaccinated and back in business — not celebrating failed policies that crippled the economy and devastated families.
