Joe Biden Leaves Americans Stranded in Afghanistan

“Any American who wants to come home, we will get you home,” Joe Biden told reporters earlier this month.

When asked about the U.S. military staying beyond August 31 if there were American citizens still trying to leave Afghanistan, Biden said, “If there’s American citizens left, we’re gonna stay to get them all out.”

But now, one day out from the president’s withdrawal deadline, hundreds of Americans are still stranded in Afghanistan as the hope for evacuation grows slim.

“Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin earlier this month told lawmakers that he ‘was aware’ that some Americans and Afghans trying to get to the Kabul airport had ‘been harassed or even beaten by the Taliban.’”

New York Times: American University of Afghanistan students and relatives trying to flee were sent home.

“‘They told us: we have given your names to the Taliban,’ said Hosay, a 24-year-old sophomore studying business administration who was on the bus on Sunday. ‘We are all terrified, there is no evacuation, there is no getting out.’”

“Students said they had struggled emotionally over the past two weeks after they went from being college students to fugitives overnight.”

“It was a frightening day,” Yasser said. “We went there anticipating to be rescued and returned home defeated.”

“‘Mr. President, you said ‘Any American who wants to come home, we will get you home,’ said Charlene Cakora, Mr. Frerichs’s sister, in a statement. ‘That should include my brother, Mark. My family needs your help to bring Mark home safely and you have the power to make it happen. Please help us.’”

Bottom line: The deadly crisis unfolding in Afghanistan is a direct result of the Biden-Harris administration’s failed foreign policy agenda, and now they’re leaving Americans behind to pay the price.
