Joe Biden’s Job-Killing Energy Agenda Could Cripple States Like Louisiana

During his first few weeks in office, President Biden implemented radical energy policies that could have drastic impacts on the oil and gas industry in states like Louisiana. On day one, President Biden cancelled the Keystone XL Pipeline which could strike many jobs.

WBRZ: “‘There’s a good likelihood that companies in Louisiana were planning on working on the Keystone Pipeline, so those jobs will be lost,’ says Briggs.”

President Biden also ordered a 60-day ban on new oil and gas leasing and drilling permits on federal land, another part of his overall energy agenda that will wreak havoc on states that are heavily-reliant on the energy industry.

Daily Advertiser: “An American Petroleum Institute analysis shows an extended drilling ban would impact the Gulf Coast the hardest, estimating 48,000 job losses in Louisiana alone by 2022. The oil-and-gas industry supported more than 249,800 jobs and contributed more than $73 billion to Louisiana’s economy in 2018, the study says.”

Louisiana lawmakers, including Democrat Governor John Bel Edwards, are sounding the alarm bells over the devastation President Biden’s action could have on the state’s oil and gas industry.

Daily Advertiser: “‘The Biden administration wasted no time launching a full scale assault on oil and gas that will send production overseas and further injure the economy,’ [Rep. Clay Higgins] said.”

WBRZ: “Senator Cassidy sent this statement, saying in part, ‘A president who promised to help the American people should not start off his administration by killing a project in which thousands are employed.’”

Daily Advertiser: “Louisiana Department of Natural Resources Secretary Thomas Harris said Edwards ‘is pushing back on the leasing moratorium. It’s not that he disagrees with the president’s goal to reduce carbon emissions, but he believes there are better tools to address the goals.’”

Bottom line: Joe Biden says he cares about Americans, but his energy agenda continues to devastate states’ economies and leave many communities behind.
