February 3, 2016The conservative super PAC America Rising is using Bernie Sanders’ own words to attack Hillary Clinton for accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in speaking fees from public colleges.
Sanders was asked Wednesday if he thought it was wrong for Clinton to accept six-figure payments from schools such as the State University at Buffalo, which she once represented as New York’s senator, and the University of Connecticut.
“I’ve got a real problem with people receiving, for an hour’s work, to earn $200,000-plus. I’ve got a real problem with that,” Sanders said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
In a press release touting Sanders’ criticism, America Rising spokesman Jeff Bechdel gleefully piled on.
“This morning, Sen. Bernie Sanders addressed the exorbitant speaking fees and riders that Secretary Clinton demanded from public universities while hypocritically claiming she wants to lessen the burden of student debt,” Bechdel said.
