Politico: Romney issues endorsement of … GOP oppo group

If Mitt Romney has a favorite in the Republican primary, he’s not quite ready to say it.

The 2012 nominee, addressing donors in New York City on Tuesday morning, heaped praise on a number of candidates in the field, including Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, John Kasich, and Chris Christie. Yet those present at the fundraiser, which was benefiting the Republican oppo research firm America Rising, said he was careful not to indicate which one he liked the most.

Romney outlined the path to victory for Republicans in 2016. Also speaking were former Romney political aides Spencer Zwick and Matt Rhoades, both of whom have leadership roles at America Rising.

During the event, Romney offered a full-throated endorsement of America Rising, saying the group would play a key role in combating Hillary Clinton and in helping to defend the GOP’s majorities in the House and Senate.
