Republicans, Energy Producers Call on Biden to Unleash American Oil and Gas
Joe Biden is waging war on American energy — at the expense of American families — to appease his radical base.
June 15, 2022America’s energy producers, along with Republicans, are calling on the Biden-Harris administration to end its war on American energy. The American Petroleum Institute sent a letter to the Biden White House outlining 10 actions the administration could take this year to encourage more energy production — and lower consumer prices. Those policies include reinstating canceled oil lease sales, reducing red tape, and unlocking access to investment and capital.
Reuters: The American Petroleum Institute, the top U.S. oil lobby organization, on Tuesday urged President Joe Biden’s administration to lift a slew of restrictions on fossil fuel development to help ease soaring energy prices. . .
The letter included a 10-point policy wish list from the oil industry, which included lifting restrictions on federal oil and gas lease sales, speeding permitting for fossil fuel projects, and rolling back proposals for increased climate disclosure.
Additionally, Republicans in 14 states took action in court to force the Biden-Harris administration to restore oil and gas lease sales. Biden has consistently opposed new oil and gas lease sales, even canceling all new sales on federal lands during his first week in office — a decision that a court overturned.
Fox News: Fourteen Republican-led states filed a brief with a federal appellate court in a case regarding President Biden’s cancellation of a large domestic oil and gas lease as fuel prices continue to rise.
Last month, the Biden administration canceled one of the most high-profile oil and gas lease sales pending before the Department of the Interior (DOI). The DOI halted the potential to drill for oil in over one million acres in Alaska’s Cook Inlet, along with two lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico.
“The Biden administration has been working hand in glove with these radical environmentalist groups to shut down American energy development,” Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen, who led the states in filing the brief, told Fox News. “These groups have made a cottage industry out of weaponizing federal law to cripple responsible domestic energy development, and liberal judges are all too happy to facilitate this green coup.”
Biden recently dismissed the high price of energy as part of an “incredible transition” to renewable energy. But skyrocketing prices, especially for gasoline, are contributing to Joe Biden’s tanking approval rating and threaten Democrats’ narrow congressional majorities.
Bottom Line: Joe Biden is waging war on American energy — at the expense of American families — to appease his radical base.
