Judge Neil Gorsuch’s looming confirmation vote has put Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) in a tough spot. She under a tremendous amount of pressure from the left-wing grassroots to join Chuck Schumer, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren in their filibuster. Yet at the same time, private comments now show that McCaskill knows that a filibuster is a bad move for Democrats.

Since McCaskill’s comments have been made public, she’s been under withering fire from liberals. On the Daily Kos McCaskill’s statements have brought the name-callers out in force:

“Of all the tired, pathetic arguments Democrats have had over the years for not confronting Republican malfeasance, the idea that they have to keep their powder dry is the lamest. And it’s that pathetic, misguided argument that Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) seems to be making.”

The brutal comments coming at McCaskill highlight the lose-lose situation she finds herself in as she prepares to run for re-election in 2018. Either she pisses off primary voters or looks out of touch with general election voters. See below for more headlines that underscore that:
