Susan Rice Caught Spinning for Obama in Facebook Smear

Most ex-Presidents retreat gracefully into the pages of history. If you’re President Obama, however, you still have some spinning left to do. And there’s no one more adept at doing that on his behalf than his confidant, Susan “A YouTube Video Started Benghazi” Rice.

The reports of Russian interference in the 2016 election have brought the Obama-Rice (and Hillary Clinton) failed foreign policy tenure—already marred by events like the Iran Deal and “JV League” ISIS comments—squarely back into focus.

So, President Obama and Susan Rice have damage control to do on two fronts: 1) they have to explain why they failed to prevent the Russian cyber attacks that occurred on his watch, and 2) why, President Obama, as the leader of the Democratic Party for eight years, was unable to convince the country that his Party deserved another term in the White House.

Obama-level misdirection always requires a good straw man. President Bush, for example, was a favorite target of his when he couldn’t explain the economy’s lackluster performance. In the case of Russian hacking, Obama is cleverly singling out a new boogeyman amid growing criticism of Silicon Valley: Facebook.

It started with a front-page Washington Post story this week. As the Resurgent notes, “there was a breathless…story that painted a picture of wise hero Barack Obama lecturing young Mark Zuckerberg about the need to take Russia and ‘Fake News’ seriously when they met in Lima, Peru following the election.”

But then Superman lost his cape. The Post was forced to correct itself, after Facebook spokesman, Elliot Schrage, denied that Russia was ever discussed. According to Fox News:

Schrage told the Post that Obama’s talk with Zuckerberg was about “misinformation and false news” and “did not include any references to possible foreign interference or suggestions about confronting threats to Facebook.”

Now, we’ve learned that Susan Rice was actually at this meeting. Isn’t it interesting that news of President Obama’s parting counsel then made it to the front page nearly a year later, with the spotlight on Facebook?

The Post goes on to tell us that “Obama and his top aides quietly agonized over how to respond to Russia’s brazen intervention” and now “regret” that they hadn’t done more. Poor Obama: as the leader of the free world, he was simply no match for the $100,000 of Facebook ads that were purchased by Russians!

A few things. First, the Obama administration was warned repeatedly about the Kremlin’s attempts to interfere in our elections from 2014 to 2016. Second, Hillary Clinton and allied groups spent a jaw-dropping $1.2 billion to lose the election – over double what President Donald Trump and related groups spent. It simply doesn’t pass muster to believe that a small fraction of what either side spent was the deal breaker in the 2016 election. Hillary Clinton’s campaign, for example, spent $16 million on digital advertising in the final weeks of the campaign alone.

The Obama spin machine may be rewriting history, but here’s the truth, as so aptly summarized by The Resurgent:

When it came to Russia, Obama, Clinton, and Rice were asleep at the switch for 8 years (emphasis added). From the reset button to promising to be “more flexible” to doing nothing in 2016 when their intelligence indicated Russians were trying to impact our elections.

Susan Rice wants to distract from outraged liberals who believe that the Obama Administration didn’t do enough when warned about potential foreign interference. President Obama wants you to forget that after eight years of a Democratic administration that Americans soundly rejected his Party’s brand of leadership. And Hillary Clinton, through her blame everyone book tour, wants you to ignore the fact she forgot to campaign in entire states. But perhaps what’s most worrisome is that their smoke-in-mirrors routine has the potential make the public forget who the real bad guys are in the world.
