The Biden Administration Continues to Ignore the Crisis at the Border

President Joe Biden’s border crisis continues as a record number of migrants surge to the U.S. But with a scant budget request for DHS, Biden’s border czar stepping down, and Kamala Harris – Biden’s border crisis manager – refusing to actually visit the border, it’s clear the Biden administration is not taking this crisis seriously.

In the words of Nancy Pelosi, “show me your values, show me your budget.” Needless to say, Americans got a first-hand look at the Biden administration’s values when they submitted their budget recommendations to Congress Friday, and the border crisis is near the bottom of their priority list.

According to a report from Axios, every department’s budget is “up from 2021” except for the Department of Homeland Security which oversees the border crisis. Biden’s budget also nixes funding for the border wall, as smugglers are taking advantage of massive border wall gaps.

Biden’s border czar, Roberta Jacobsen, also announced last week that she’s stepping down as the crisis worsens. The New York Times said the “timing of her departure” is “striking” considering the Biden administration’s ongoing struggle to reduce the flow of immigrants coming to the border.

In the meantime, VP Kamala Harris, still has no plans to visit the border despite being named President Biden’s border crisis manager 19 days ago. Last month, she laughed at the notion of visiting when asked about it by a reporter.

Harris has also yet to hold a press conference on the issue or present a clear-cut plan to the American people about how the Biden administration is going to address the border crisis.

Bottom line: Joe Biden’s policies and rhetoric created the crisis at the border, and virtually every action he’s taken has proven that he’s either incapable or unwilling to solve it.
