Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg Fails to Give Specific Timeline on Restoring Jobs Eliminated Under the Biden Administration

In an interview with Fox News Thursday, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg was confronted about the Biden administration’s radical energy agenda that has stripped jobs away from thousands of oil and gas workers across the country.

After leaving thousands of workers jobless by revoking the permit to the Keystone XL Pipeline on his first day in office, President Biden made it clear to oil and gas workers that they are not valued in Washington.

“My main concern more than anything is what’s going to happen to the people who live here,” said a coal miner in an interview with Fox and Friends. “Are we going to put wind and solar farms here in West Virginia that can replace all those coal jobs? When you have an administration who says we’re going to eliminate those jobs, it hurts. And you still have to look for other opportunities outside of that area, hopefully something that can grow, and honestly we’re just not seeing that around here.”

When asked what the Biden administration plans to do for people who have been put out of work because of President Biden’s radical policies, Buttigieg rattled off White House talking points about clean energy jobs with no clear-cut plan or timeline to help those who have been left behind by Joe Biden’s job-killing agenda.

“That’s why this bill includes provisions to make sure there are jobs in things like reclaiming mines, or we know that there are a lot of areas where we’ve got wells that have to be capped,” Buttigieg said. “That’s going to require skilled work, union work, and I think those kinds of jobs are among the millions of jobs that are being created. Let’s be clear: There are jobs being created as we speak, right this minute, in things like the American auto industry increasingly positioning itself to lead the way on electric vehicles…”

Buttigieg’s response coincided with Biden climate czar John Kerry’s message to oil and gas workers earlier this year saying those who were laid off as a result of President Biden’s policies need to get another clean energy job making solar panels.

But many pipeliners, like Jason Jernigan, say it’s not that simple.

“First of all, I haven’t been offered a job in the solar panels industry and I haven’t been sent an application or a phone number or anything,” Jernigan said. “I don’t know if I have to do the work, the groundwork and everything it takes to get there.”

“And secondly, I’ve done the research, if I went to work for the solar panel right now, I would be taking a $35-an-hour pay cut and lose my benefits and retirement,” he continued. – Fox News

Bottom line: Joe Biden is leaving entire communities behind by destroying family-supporting jobs with no plan to replace them. Hardworking Americans need more than empty promises and platitudes to put food on the table and make ends meet.
