Was Joe Biden’s Ethics and Transparency Pledge Just Empty Words?

The Biden-Harris administration campaigned on and has since touted their commitment to upholding “the highest ethical standards of any administration in history.” But the White House’s “upstanding” standards have repeatedly missed the mark.

Months after his father’s presidential win, Hunter Biden is selling paintings to “anonymous” buyers for prices as high as $500,000, which created a transparency and ethical controversy for the White House.

AP: “The concern, [Richard Painter] said, is that regardless of who purchases the paintings, such high prices suggest Hunter Biden is profiting off his father’s name. Painter worried that foreign governments could fund the purchase through a buyer, or lobbyists could purchase the painting to win favor with those in Biden’s orbit, even if Hunter and his father don’t know the buyer’s identity.”

When asked what he had to say to those raising questions about the validity of his art dealings, Hunter Biden reiterated his flagrant disregard for ethical standards.

Throughout Joe Biden’s first six months in office, there have been repeated instances where his commitment to higher ethics and increased transparency have come into question:
