Congressman Ruben Gallego Endorses Mark Kelly Despite Recently Attacking Him

Ruben Gallego was the candidate of choice for progressives in Arizona’s U.S. Senate race. However, establishment Democrats had a different plan and pushed out Gallego in favor of corporate Democrat and pyramid scheme pitchman Mark Kelly.

Gallego was certainly not a fan of being pushed out of the race. He attacked Kelly in March for taking a “no corporate PAC” pledge while at the same time giving high-paying speeches to corporations. Gallego noted that it would be weird to take a pledge and not personally live up to the pledge.

Earlier in February, Gallego said on a radio show that he thought Kelly having zero political record would work against him.  

“He hasn’t run for office,” Gallego said, “he doesn’t have any positions. He’s never actually had his name on the ballot.”

Fast forward only a few months later, the Arizona Republic is reporting that Gallego is endorsing and campaigning with Kelly. Who needs principles when the politically expedient option is the path of least resistance? Kelly has yet to embrace many of the same progressive positions Gallego has championed including ‘Medicare for All.’

Gallego has a long history of unapologetic comments and actions that appeal to progressives and Kelly will have a hard time living up to the standard set by Gallego.
