Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a 2020 Democratic hopeful, became the first sitting senator to call to abolish ICE in June. Three months later, following polling showing widespread opposition for the idea, Gillibrand is attempting to do some cleanup. In a sit down with a local New York editorial board, she said her comments were “taken out of context.”
But at the time, she tweeted that exact same phrase…
