WTAS About Biden’s Border Crisis Ahead of Alejandro Mayorkas’ Visit to South Texas

The Biden-Harris administration managed to undo years of progress in securing the border and ending the humanitarian crisis in a matter of months. Their radical open borders agenda has now created a trifecta of crises, and they’re sending DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to survey the extent of the damage their failed policies have caused. Here’s a look at what’s actually going on at the southern border ahead of Mayorkas’ visit:

More than 7,000 COVID-positive migrants have been released into the city of McAllen since February, including 1,500 new cases within a week.

Fox News: “The Texas border city of McAllen says more than 7,000 COVID-positive migrants have been released into the city since February, and more than 1,500 in the past week — the latest example of growing concern about the potential impact of the border crisis on efforts to control COVID-19 in the U.S.”

ValleyCentral: “Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez told ValleyCentral the infection rate for migrants rose to a shocking 16%, doubling the numbers from last time.”

Hidalgo County officials issued a local disaster declaration and pleaded for federal resources to help deal with Biden’s border crisis.

ValleyCentral: “Hidalgo County leaders have asked the federal government to intervene to help the overwhelming numbers of asylum seekers coming across the border.

“‘The declaration what it does is it allows us to go to the state and the federal level to seek funding to keep fighting these issues we are currently,’ said McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos.”

ValleyCentral: “However, [Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez] said that no one from the federal level has reached out to them.

“‘I haven’t heard a single word from the White House. I haven’t heard a single word from the federal government,’ said Cortez.”

The city of McAllen is forced to set up temporary emergency shelters due to an overflow of migrants being released with COVID-19.

Border Report: “Overnight Wednesday, six tents had been put up with a capacity to hold 260 migrants, McAllen City Manager Roel ‘Roy’ Rodriguez told Border Report.

“Rodriguez said the tents were built to safely house migrants who have at least one family member who tests positive for coronavirus.”

KENS 5: “‘Despite the City of McAllen and its community partners’ best efforts, the sheer number of immigrants being released into the city has become a crisis: a crisis the City of McAllen did not create and has proactively tried to avoid for seven years,’ the press release said. ‘Now, with the drastic, unexpected increase of immigrants arriving to McAllen, the City Commission’s first priority is to protect the health and safety of the residents they serve.’”
