2020 Democrats Revise Past Positions for the Campaign

2020 White House hopefuls are changing their policy positions on everything from climate change to accepting corporate PAC money to please the ever leftward shifting base of the Democratic party.

NBC News: “As candidates look to find their place in the crowded primary field and face a party electorate energized by the left, many are massaging or outright reversing old positions — and sometimes even apologizing for parts of their record that haven’t aged well with voters.”

The most drastic shift for candidates has been their stances on criminal justice reform. Progressive activists have hit Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders for supporting the 1994 Crime Bill. The left has also laid into Kamala Harris for prosecuting parents for school truancy.

Cory Booker received backlash for supporting Big Pharma and has since backed off his support of the industry. Beto O’Rourke reversed his support for the oil and gas industry to please environmentalists. Kirsten Gillibrand has flip flopped on virtually every stance she took as a congresswoman blaming her past views on the district she represented in upstate NY.

These conveniently timed “evolutions” highlight the blatant hypocrisy of the 2020 presidential field as they all look to outmaneuver each other in the crowded primary.
