‘Cover Your A**’: Biden Chief Ron Klain Under Fire

Joe Biden’s right hand man, Chief of Staff Ron Klain, is being criticized by Democrats and Republicans for his mismanagement of the Biden-Harris White House. Democratic Members of Congress and outside advisers blame Klain for Biden’s disastrous first year in office — including the president’s crashing approval rating and the collapse of his legislative agenda. One Democratic lawmaker put it bluntly: “Ron Klain should be fired.”

Politico: For months, moderate Democrats in Congress have complained that Klain is overly deferential to their liberal colleagues, to the point where some members and Hill staff privately said he needed to be replaced. With Biden’s domestic agenda stalling out, the Covid pandemic lingering and inflation rising, second guessing of his leadership is now coming from a wider swath of the party and even some corners of the administration.

Democrats blame Klain for “sinking” morale in the White House and pushing Biden even further to the left by catering to radical Democrats in Congress. After the Senate failed to abolish the filibuster — despite support from Klain and the Biden-Harris administration — Republican Senator Ben Sasse called on Biden to “fire his chief of staff immediately”.

Fox News: “It’s CYA [cover your a–] week in Washington,” Sasse said in a statement provided to Fox News. “The Senate is taking a guaranteed-to-fail vote on blowing up the filibuster so that Chuck Schumer can ward off a primary challenge from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and so that Ron Klain can throw some chum at the Democratic Party’s progressive base.”

“Ron Klain thinks his own activists are dumb enough to fall for it,” Sasse added. “President Biden ought to fire his chief of staff immediately.”

After just a year on the job, there is mounting speculation that Klain will step down and Biden’s allies are “openly speculating” on who will replace him.

Bottom Line: The knives are clearly out for Ron Klain, but he’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the Biden administration’s disastrous first year in office.
